Wellness in Practice
Call us crazy, but we don’t think the path to improved mental health and well-being for legal professionals involves panels, committees, slide decks, windowless ballrooms, or certificates. We created Law Garden to help you activate the part of your brain that is dying to break free - whatever that means for you. You may want to reset by joining us on a retreat. Perhaps we give you personalized support through one-on-one coaching. You might learn something new at one of our many CLEs. Or, you’ll spend an hour a month with colleagues at a monthly connection event. In any event, we’re here to support you in designing a life you mean to be living.
Meet Anna & Lisi
Law Garden has its origin in many, many walks, phone calls, and “don’t move, I’ll be right there” texts that co-founders Anna Martinez and Lisi Owen have shared over many years. When Anna left the firm she’d been at for years and started her own practice, Lisi repeatedly reminded her that she was brilliant, qualified, and capable of being the boss of her operation. When Lisi moved out of the country to heal from devastating personal circumstances, Anna spent hours on the phone with her reminding her that all her worst fears were not real. Eventually, they decided to office together, chose flowery wallpaper and bright green walls for their library/conference room, and suddenly all their ideas about transforming the way lawyers show up in the profession crystallized into Law Garden.

Abogada Martinez is the owner of Martinez Law Colorado, LLC and a co-founder of the Abogadas Colorado network of Spanish-Speaking lawyers. Anna’s family is from the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado. The youngest of five sisters, she grew up in Colorado Springs. In addition to running her own law practice, Anna raises her 11 year-old son and helps to care for her parents in a multi-generational household. She is especially skilled at representing Spanish-speakers and elderly clients, connecting people, and fearlessly trying cases.

Lisi grew up in Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood in the 1990s and has many childhood memories of making tie-dye napkins at the cafe tables of The Market in Larimer Square to pass the hours her then-philosophy student mom would spend with her classmates wondering whether we’re all just brains in a vat. Naturally, she grew up to be a lawyer who thinks the world could probably be a better place. She is the founder and Chief Vision Officer of The Vanguard Collective LLC, and runs an anti-corruption law practice called Vanguard Justice LLC. Lisi is especially skilled at standing up to people and asking questions like, “But why though?” She does not like it when her two kids, ages 9 and 6, do the same thing to her.
What We Do
We offer you Law Garden directly from our hearts: it’s what we feel like we’ve needed (and continue to need!) as we’ve sorted out who we want to be as lawyers, moms, friends, family members, and indiivduals. And, we’ve created something for an array of interests, time commitments, and career stages.
